Wife of Davy Crockett Laid to Rest in the Smallest Texas Park

Roadside Stop: Acton State Historic Site | The Smallest Texas Park

Elizabeth Crockett, the wife of folk hero Davy Crockett, is buried in the tiny Action State Historical Site in Granbury, Texas. This small fenced-in park is located inside the Acton cemetery.

Davy Crockett famously came from Tennessee and joined the Alamo defenders during the Texas Revolution. He died in battle at the Alamo making his heirs eligible for Texas land grants. Elizabeth moved her family to the Acton area to settle.

Elizabeth died in 1860 at the age of 72. In 1911, a monument was placed at her burial site. Today you can visit and see her statue peering into the distance. Take a minute to read a little bit about the life of David and Elizabeth Crockett and their contributions to Texas history.
