Where to Begin Your Field Trip:
There are 2 parking areas; one at the main River Legacy Park entrance and one at the Living Science Center. Purchase admission for the Discovery Room in the gift shop.
What Can You Expect to See & Do at the Nature Center?
This is a small field trip you will only need a couple of hours for, (or you can explore the rest of the park and easily make a day of it!)
The Living Science Center features the Discovery Room, a pond habitat, a gift shop, and nature trails.
Discovery Room
Beginning in the Discovery Room, the first area you’ll arrive at is the watery world. Look down and notice the interactive floor. The aquariums and terrariums represent some of the habitats in the park. You may even find some creepy crawlies if you move the big rock.
The interactive wall puts kids inside the scenes. It cycles through several different games and kids perform the actions, like running from a stinky skunk or picking up litter in the park.
Microscopes and other hands-on exhibits will keep kids engaged. The nature center has the perfect balance of reading and activities to keep them learning and entertained.
The pond viewing area is equipped with binoculars and signs explaining what to look for in the habitat. The turtles are always a big hit. If you look closely, you may be able to find frogs or dragonflies. The pond can be viewed up-close from outside, as well.
Gift Shop
Before leaving, check out their gift shop. It’s small, but well stocked with many unique items and nature themed toys and games.
Trails
Adjacent to the building are short and beautiful walking trails through the woods and pond area.
