Not many animals can claim to be more Texan than the honored Texas longhorn. Their tale begins in the early 1800s and is still ingrained into the culture of Texas today.

The Fort Worth Stockyards is our top pick to see longhorn. Longhorn Cattle drives take place twice daily at 11:30am and 4:00pm. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back into a bygone time as the cowboys and longhorns take a stroll through the cobblestone streets of Stockyards Station.

Visit The Official State of Texas Longhorn Herd and take in some history and nature at Fort Griffin State Historic Site.

The Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site is adjacent to the Lyndon B. Johnson National Park. At these parks, you can see the homes of the Texas Longhorns, the American Bison, and our 36th president.

Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest canyon in the country and it has something the Grand Canyon doesn’t. You guessed it, Texas longhorn.
