September 11th is a good day to talk with your kids about first responders. 

This printable is a quick guide to discuss the community workers that can help them and others in an emergency, such as paramedics, firefighters, and police officers. 

Some questions you may want to go over are:

• What is a first responder and what do they do?
• Where do they work?
• What should you do if you need help in an emergency?

The worksheet includes a place for kids to add a photo or draw a picture of their local hospital, fire station, and police station. Three thank you card templates have also been included to write thank you notes to these important community helpers.
